this version of the reuben classic uses house-smoked, melt-in-your-mouth pastrami, but the cheese is king, accentuating the saltiness of the pastrami while sounding notes of deliciousness all its own. the pressed bread is simple, content to get out of the way of the meaty main event. katz’s pastrami is still tops in my book, but Rub’s version comes deliciously close, and at half the cost.
