the earl’s challenge: #21 — chicken parm [at “Torrisi Italian Specialties”]

Torrisi Italian Specialities

torrisi is awesome. it features a $50 four-course italian-american dinner menu that changes every night and that has sent many a food critic into culinary reveries, but torrisi’s hidden gem is its lunch menu of heros. this chicken parm hero would make an italian-american capo forsake sicily–and the waste management business–and move to greenwich village. the mozzarella is homemade (and, when served at dinner, is the best mozzarella hermione and i have ever had), and the tomato sauce is thick and savory. there are many ‘wiches on this list that are smaller than this chicken parm, but i wolfed down this torrisi specialty faster than any of them. (that might have something to do with the fact that i bought this chicken parm on the day hermione left for honolulu. i guess i needed some comfortin’.)
